Vice President and Inspector General
Maria C. Mostajo presently serves as Vice President and Inspector General for the NYC School Construction Authority. Prior to that she was an Associate Commissioner for the Department of Investigation, which serves as the City’s municipal watchdog with oversight of more than 300,000 City employees in 45 City agencies; dozens of Boards and Commissions. Maria specifically oversees investigations into city employees working for the uniform and social service agencies, such as the Department of Correction, FDNY, Administration for Children Services, and Human Resources Administration, to name a few.

Prior to her appointment to DOI, Maria was an Assistant District Attorney for over fifteen years. She began her career in Bronx County in 1992 and returned there in 2008, where she prosecuted a broad range of gang related activity, corruption involving law enforcement and public officials. She also handled complex organized crime and narcotics related cases. Maria also worked at the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor in Manhattan for over eight years where she Conducted investigations that targeted large-scale narco-trafficking organizations distributing in New York City.

Maria is a 1988 graduate of Boston College and a 1991 graduate of Suffolk University Law School. She lives in New York City with her husband Mark and her two children, Aaron and Sophia.
